About
Great pub on the marina in Plymouth
The “Bori” is thought to have been built as a Quarrymaster’s house in the early to mid 1700s, probably by Lord Boringdon (brother of Lord Morley, also one of the Parkers of Saltram). The village of Turnchapel was then a ship-building and fishing village.
In 1808 Langmaids Brewery leased the Bori from Lord Boringdon; the first known licencee was Isaac Pears in 1826. We are working on a History of the Bori and if you know any significant dates please let us know.
We are featured in Chris Denham’s book of the TV series “The Local” and he was here to sign copies on Friday evening 3rd December. We have a few copies in stock at a small discount – the book is very well illustrated and printed so it’ll make an excellent birthday prezzie for someone!
